Funeral Planning
“Do not grieve like those who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose, so too will God, through Jesus, bring with him those who have fallen asleep.”
(1 Thessalonians 4:13b-14)
Your parish clergy and your extended parish family offer our sincere condolences and sympathies at the passing of your loved one.
St. Paul’s advice to the Thessalonians is a challenge to have hope even in the midst of loss and grief. It is our firm faith as Christians that the dead continue to live in the sight of God. Indeed, the liturgy of Christian Burial confidently proclaims, “for your faithful, Lord, life is changed not ended.”
The Funeral Mass provides an opportunity for you to mourn the loss of your loved one while expressing sincere Christian hope for your eventual reunion. Additionally, the consoling rituals of the Funeral Mass provide a precious opportunity for us to pray for the deceased, and to express our support and consolation to you and your relatives in the midst of your bereavement.
