Events at St. Francis de Sales

Marian Holy Hour

This Wednesday, October 7

In honor of the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, I invite you to join me for a Marian Holy Hour this Wednesday, October 7 at 6:30pm in the church.

24 Hour Eucharistic Adoration

in the Chapel –October 8-October 9

The Diocese of Providence is hosting a 7 day Traveling Eucharistic Rosary Congress throughout the diocese. This is a week-long period of intense, around-the-clock prayer consisting of perpetual adoration and hourly rosary, offered in a spirit of reparation.

St. Francis de Sales is holding 24 hours of Adoration in the chapel beginning at 8:45am on Thursday, October 8 concluding with Benediction at 7:30am on Friday, October 9. We invite you to come and spend an hour with our Lord. As we need to be sure all the hours are covered, please use the sign-up sheets located at all the entrances of the church as well as the door of the chapel.

Bishop Barron’s

Pivotal Players

In honor of Bishop Fulton Sheen’s recent beatification, the Pastoral Council is hosting Bishop Barron’s Pivotal Players episode titled “Fulton J. Sheen-The Communicator” on Sunday October 11 in Driscoll Hall at 12:30pm (directly after the 11:30am Mass).

As some of you may recall, Bishop Sheen pioneered the use of modern mass media to preach the Gospel, first on radio for 20 years (1930-1950) with “The Catholic Hour”, and then on television in the 1950s and 1960s with his programs “Life is Worth Living” and “The Fulton Sheen Program”. With a keen intellect and self-effacing sense of humor, Bishop Sheen had a gift for translating dense philosophical and theological concepts into everyday ordinary language. He was also prescient in pointing out the dangers of Marxism, moral relativism, and secularism so prevalent today. Please come join us for a behind-the-scenes look at this fascinating, holy man.

ANNUAL GIANT YARD SALE

OCTOBER 24 AND 25

This year’s Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, October 24, 8:00am-1:30pm and Sunday, October 25, 8:00am-1:45pm in Driscoll hall and the parish center. We need your help in making this event a big success. Please start going through your basements and attics for gently used items such as collectibles, toys, games, electronics, home goods, CD’s and DVD’s, tools and furniture. We also feature a jewelry table. All types of jewelry are needed.

ITEMS WE CANNOT ACCEPT

We will not be accepting the following items: motor vehicle tires, large overstuffed sofas, pull out sleeper sofas, mattresses, knives, car seats, clothing, stuffed animals, pillows, microwaves, air conditioners, TV’s, computers (no E-Waste please), pressure cookers, encyclopedias, text books, magazines, scrapbooks and large dictionaries. We can only accept exercise equipment and electronic items that are in good working condition.

Remember the saying “someone’s junk is someone else’s treasure?” However, we are looking for items that can be sold, not items that will go directly into a dumpster because they are broken, unusable or not clean. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
