Welcome to St. Francis de Sales Faith Formation

Below you will find information about our faith-formation program. The goal of the program is to educate and form our young parishioners in the Catholic faith, ultimately leading them to know, love, and be loved by Jesus Christ.

Generations of Faith (Whole Family Catechesis)
Our primary education program at St. Francis de Sales is called “Generations of Faith” (GOF). This intergenerational program calls for the whole family to participate in their faith formation. We believe we are a community called to life-long learning of our faith.  We also believe that religious education begins much earlier than Grade 1 and that it does not stop at Confirmation. Generations of Faith acknowledges that parents are the primary teachers of our Catholic faith and that the parish works with families to develop this faith in each member of the household.  The household itself is called “the domestic church.”  For more information about GOF, including current dates for the upcoming year, please contact the Religious Education Office at 401-885-3639.

Sacramental Preparation

First Reconciliation and Holy Communion Preparation is a 2-year program that begins in first grade with a year of Generations of Faith (GOF). In 2nd grade, in addition to GOF, students meet for class on specific Sunday’s from 10-11:15.  Please provide a copy of your son/daughter’s Baptismal Certificate if they were baptized at another Parish when registering. Call the Religious Education Office for more information or to register, 401-885-3639

Pre-Confirmation (Grades 6&7).
In addition to Generations of Faith, students in grades 6&7 gather for a monthly class and attend a retreat. Participation in parish life is strongly encouraged!

Confirmation is a 2-year program beginning in 8th grade (Confirmation I), and continue in 9th grade (Confirmation II) with the expectation of continuous participation in religious education following First Holy Communion.  Confirmation I and II students attend Sunday classes each month, in addition to Generations of Faith (GOF), participate in a retreat, and perform Works of Mercy. Please contact the Religious Education Office for more information or to register.  401-885-3639
